Getting to La Spezia
By plane
Pisa (PSA) — the most convenient airport. PisaMover to Pisa Centrale, then a direct train: about 1h15 in total.
Genoa (GOA) — shuttle or taxi to Genoa Piazza Principe, then train: about 2 hours.
Florence (FLR) / Milan (MXP, LIN, BGY) — reachable by train in about 2h30 and 3–4 hours respectively.
By Train
La Spezia Centrale is served by high-speed and Intercity trains from Rome, Milan, Turin, Florence and Genoa.
From the station we're a 2-minute walk, slightly downhill: no taxi or bus needed.
Please note: get off at "La Spezia Centrale", not "La Spezia Migliarina".
By Car
A12 motorway Genoa–Livorno, exit La Spezia Santo Stefano, then about 10 minutes to the centre.

Our tip: leave the car here and travel by train. Parking in the Cinque Terre is difficult and expensive.

Portovenere and the Islands
A UNESCO World Heritage Site like the Cinque Terre, but far less crowded. The church of San Pietro on the cliff, Byron's Grotto and the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto. Reached by boat from Molo Italia or by local bus.
Lerici and the Gulf of Poets
Across the gulf: Lerici castle, San Terenzo bay and Tellaro, one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Perfect for a quieter day by the sea.
The Trails
The Sentiero Verde-Azzurro links the five villages along the coast. Some sections require the Cinque Terre Card and may close for maintenance or bad weather: always check they're open on the day.
Art Cities in a Day
By train from La Spezia: Pisa in about 1 hour, Lucca 1h30, Florence 2h30, Genoa 1h20. You can visit them and be back in the evening without changing accommodation.
What to Eat
Trofie with pesto, focaccia, La Spezia stuffed mussels, Monterosso anchovies and Sciacchetrà, the sweet wine of the terraces. Ask us for our favourite addresses: they're not the ones on the main street.
Arrivals outside these hours are possible by arrangement: let us know when you book.

Check-in is from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00; check-out is by 10:00. If you're arriving outside those hours, let us know in advance — we can almost always work something out.
A two-minute walk brings you to La Spezia Centrale station, where the regional train leaves for Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso: the first village is only 8 minutes away by train. Alternatively, the ferry terminal is 8 minutes on foot.
If you plan several train journeys in one day, or intend to walk the paid trails, the Cinque Terre Treno Card almost always works out cheaper. You can buy it at the station or online: when you arrive we'll help you pick the right option for your plans.

No, breakfast is not included in the room rate. Within a few minutes' walk there are several bars for a proper Italian breakfast: when you arrive we'll gladly point you to our favourites — the ones we go to ourselves.
May, June and September offer the best balance of weather and crowds. July and August are the hottest and busiest months: in that period it pays to set off early in the morning. April and October are ideal if you like walking.
